From Burnout to Balance: Redefining Success on My Last Day of Work

As I sit down to write this post, I can’t help but feel a whirlwind of emotions. Today marks the end of a chapter for me – my last day of the traditional 9-5 grind, at least for now. Sure, I’m feeling sadness and apprehension, but I’m also filled with a sense of liberation and empowerment. Why? Because today, I am choosing myself. I am choosing my mental health and overall wellbeing over the demands of work, even if just for a little while.

For years, I’ve been caught up in the hustle and bustle of professional life. The demands of the job, the pressure to excel, and the constant juggling of tasks have often left me feeling overwhelmed and frankly, exhausted. And while I’ve learned and grown immensely during this time, I’ve also come to realize the importance of taking care of myself – both physically and emotionally.

So, on this last day of my traditional 9-5, I’m taking a step back to reevaluate my priorities and reassess my approach to work and life. I’m choosing to prioritize self-care and make my mental health a priority, even as I navigate the uncertainties of the future.

This decision doesn’t come without its challenges. Society often equates success with long hours and unwavering dedication, making it easy to lose sight of our own needs in pursuit of professional achievement. But I refuse to sacrifice my wellbeing for the sake of external validation or societal expectations.

Instead, I’m slowing down, setting boundaries, and taking time for myself. It’s okay to say no to things that don’t align with my values or contribute to my overall happiness. And it’s okay to prioritize activities that bring me joy and fulfillment, even if they don’t fit neatly into the traditional 9-5 mold.

As I focus on building Tara Kermiet Consulting, LLC, I’m committed to creating a business that aligns with my values and allows me to make a meaningful impact in the lives of others. Through coaching and consulting, I aim to empower individuals and organizations to reach their full potential, cultivate resilience, and foster positive change.

So what does this mean for me going forward? It means finding a better balance between work and life, setting realistic goals, and practicing self-compassion along the way. It means cultivating a supportive network of clients, collaborators, and mentors who understand and respect my boundaries. And it means staying true to myself, even when faced with pressure to conform or compromise.

While the road ahead may be uncertain, I’m approaching it with a sense of optimism and excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead. By prioritizing my mental health and focusing on building my business, I’m taking a step towards a more fulfilling and purpose-driven life.

So here’s to embracing change, prioritizing self-care, and choosing happiness – not just on my last day, but every day as I build my business. Because when we take care of ourselves, we’re better equipped to show up fully for the people and things that matter most to us.

And who knows? Maybe one day, I’ll look back on this moment as the beginning of something truly transformative. But until then, I’m embracing this journey with open arms and a grateful heart.
